All About M.E. is actually all about YOU and Machine Embroidery! Join us each time as we delve into the wonderful world of machine embroidery.
This program is a lecture/demo event where a new theme and techniques will be presented each time. Co-taught by Robin Keller, Salima Jaffer, and Suzy Poor, this class series is suitable for any make or brand of embroidery system.
You’ll learn about placement, stabilizer choices, tools to improve your embroidery, and you’ll get tons of creative ideas.
June 3 – Straight for the Border. Borders are beautiful – but keeping them straight can be a challenge. Join Salima and Suzy as we explore options for embroidery borders and getting them perfect every time suing a variety of hooping techniques and specialty stabilizers.
July 7 – Summer Showers. This class will give you some good ideas for making shower gifts – for both bridal showers and baby showers. We’ll have tips on monogramming and customizing gifts for the bride. We will also look at proper stabilizers to use for baby things. We will explore how to embroider on hard-to-hoop items such as baby bodysuits. Join Salima as we create projects that are sure to become heirloom creations!
July 29 – The Choice is Yours. Choosing the right design for a clothing project can be daunting. We will take a look at ways to gain inspiration for choosing designs for garments, and factors that determine the placement on garments. Learn everything you need to know to create wonderful wearable embroidery. We’ll cover proper stabilization and hooping techniques for your favorite fashion and fine fabrics. Suzy will host this time.
August 13 – Explore the World of Florals. Learn how to bring the outdoors inside. Learn to stitch some beautiful florals on pre-made blanks and other easy-to-find items to create some fun projects. Robin will share tips on how to choose just the right stabilizer for the design and the fabric.
September 16 – Quilting Possibilities with the Embroidery Machine. Suzy will help you explore the world of quilts as you learn which designs and threads to use for quilting the layers of a quilt together using your embroidery machine as well as for embroidering quilt squares. Learn about stabilizers and how to choose the proper ones for quilting designs and for use on quilts. Find out what to look for in a good quality backing – when to use the different types, how to apply them for best results.
October 8 – In the Right Place. Embroidering ready-made garments can be fun, but sometimes challenging. This class teaches tips on embroidering ready-to-wear, including how and when to open seams, ideal products to use, coordinating designs, and appropriate stabilizers to use. We will also discuss embroidering areas such as collars and cuffs that can’t be hooped in the traditional way. Robin will help you learn to get a design in the right place – the first time!
October 19 – Applique and Other Tricks. Did you know you can applique with your embroidery machine? It is so very easy, and every corner will be flawless. You will see two different techniques for applique by machine. Suzy will show you the specialty products that will make life easier. We will also see some other tricks your machine can do – from lace to loops-in-the-hoop projects!
November 3 – Christmas Creations. Salima will get you started on your road to embroidering some quick and easy gifts for Christmas. Use your machine to its fullest as you embroider custom gifts for those on your Christmas list.
November 19 – Knits and Velvets and Corduroys, Oh My! This class features embroidery products needed for flawless embroidery on fabrics generally considered difficult. Learn tips and tricks for dealing with difficult fabrics, choosing appropriate designs, and designing a well-planned garment or other project. Robin hosts this session.
December 8 – From Oops to Hooray! Ever have one of those embroidery “oops” moments? Explore the symptoms, diagnosis, and remedies for what might at first appear to be a disastrous mistake in embroidery! The class will cover ways to creatively cover and hide holes, spots, and stains in otherwise perfectly good garments. It will also cover prevention methods to keeps those mistakes from happening in the first place. Salima is your host this time.
